Stoke Rivers Barn Conversion
BARN CONVERSION
North Devon
A class Q barn conversion project near to the village of Stoke Rivers, North Devon, on the outskirts of Exmoor National Park. The design took advantage of the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside with large feature windows. The two storey height of the existing barn gave the opportunity for the insertion of an upper mezzanine floor which is permitted development under the class Q legislation.
Further design features included a number of sustainable measures including a fabric first approach to the building envelope, solar PV, ground source heat pump, SUDs principles rain water disposal and energy efficient heating and lighting systems. The conversion was designed to reflect and uphold the rural character of the existing building and would provide a significant enhancement to the appearance of the site.
